September 19 New Photos and UpdateEveryone loves pregnancy photos so here are some new one's.
On Sunday I'll be exactly 37 weeks. At my last appointment (3 days ago) I was 50% effaced, 1 cm dilated and the baby was head down and at +1 station. Basically that means he's dropped and ready to go at any time.
The nursery is still in flux but overall we're pretty much ready to go - the crib is ready, carseat installed, stroller in the trunk and lots of onesies and blankets to keep him cozy for the first few months. Changing table is on its way and the wall decor still needs to be put up but other than that, the nursery is good to go.
Now it's just the waiting game. I'm still holding out for October since that's when my original due date is scheduled but if he's early I'll be okay with that. :)
More updates to come as the 40 week mark approaches. August 15 2 months to go!As of yesterday, I have exactly 2 months until my due date. REALLY? Where did the time go? The past few months have flown by and now the reality is starting to set in. In 2 months this belly of mine will suddenly morph into a little baby. I definitley have not made that connection yet. Even after holding my friend Muffin's newborn I looked at him and looked at my belly and said, "this is what's going to come out of me?" Yes, I realize that sounds dumb but I don't think it'll all hit me until he arrives. But I'm definitely getting excited. This weekend it'll be off to the paint store and the fabric store and time to really sit down in the nursery and start organizing. FUN! July 28 Finally some new photosI'm a really bad blogger. :) Not only do I have sporadic posts but it also takes me a while to get new photos up on this site. But I just added an album of a few random pics from the last 6 months or so.
Pregnancy update: I'm at 29 weeks and everything is going well. I'm starting to experience Braxton-Hicks which is interesting in and of itself. Shane got the crib put together this weekend and now my mom is in the process of making the bedding - yes, she is a master sewer. More pics to come as it all comes together. June 04 It's a Boy!Just a few days before we babymooned in Maui, we had our 20 week ultrasound and found out we're having a boy! My gut instinct all along was that it was a boy but I let everyone around me convince me it was a girl. So when the tech showed us the anatomy and let us guess, I looked at her and said quizzically, "it's a boy?" I was in shock and Shane was overjoyed. Neither of us had a preference of whether it was a boy or girl but I could tell Shane was really happy to have our first born be a boy. And we found out later that all first borns on both the Adelstein and Lunak side of the family had all been boys. So we're just carrying on the tradition. May 07 Houston....We Have Movement! So I'm finally deciding (to my dismay) that I need to get out of bed and I roll over onto my back to stretch out a little. And low and behold .... the baby moved! Well I'm sure the baby has been moving all along but I finally felt it. I'm pretty sure "peanut" did some sort of somersault becuase I definitley felt a rolling motion. I quickly woke Shane up and he tried to feel. I said - "there, do you feel that?" as I felt something of a little kick but apparently the movement is only felt by me at this point.
What an interesting experience! I tried to get the baby to move again but not this time. I'm sure I'm in for much more movement to come, though. :)
April 30 Finally Showing...Well a LittleI'm still waiting for the day my belly just "pops out" and sadly that day hasn't come yet. But I'm happy to report that I'm finally showing even if just a little bit. I think I've moved past the stage where I just look like I have a big beer gut but then again, I guess it depends who you ask.
People often ask me, "are you so excited to be pregnant," and of course the reaction is yes. But I noticed that it's often followed-up by a bit of uncertaintly on my part. I'm not uncertain about having a baby - of course I can't wait for that. But I'm still lacking the connection to the baby. At 16 and 1/2 weeks I've had 2 ultrasounds and absolutely know the baby is there but there's a difference between seeing a baby on a TV monitor and feeling that it's part of you. I think that's why I'm so anxious to really start showing - I feel that will be one more step to me connecting to the fact I'm actually pregnant. I've been super lucky to not have any true pregnancy symptoms but I think that's another thing that keeps me from feeling pregnant. Not that I want morning sickness, don't get me wrong.
At 20 weeks we'll find out the sex and I know that will be the point that it becomes real. But hopefully before then I'll have "popped out" and at least look pregnant if not feel pregnant. April 15 13 week ultrasoundLast week I had my 13-week ultrasound. It was so crazy! The baby was literally doing a headstand and the tech was trying to do whatever he could to get the baby to roll on its side. He said we have quite the acrobat. All was good on the ultrasound - we got to see the little spine, the bladder and the stomach. And finally when the baby did roll over and we got to see the face we realized that right off the bat this boy or girl has Shane's lips. Shane just hopes it's a girl for that reason alone (apparently kids in school called him Mick Jagger because of his perky lips). We'll go in again at 20 weeks (about mid-May) to find out if it's a boy or girl. Then off to Maui to celebrate! The next few months will be busy one's but I'll be sure to keep everyone updated as best I can. April 02 Lil' Lunak on the Way!So apparently the only time I update my space is when there are major events going on in my life. The newest event.....a little Lunak will grace our presence in October. I will use this space as my way to update everyone with the progress of the pregnancy as well as pictures when we get to that point.
Thus far, I'm barely showing but there is a little pooch. I'll start taking pictures when I actually get a bigger belly. Other random things I've noticed while being pregnant:
1. I'm loving citrus - orange juice, lemonade, fruit pops, etc. I've never been much of a citrus fan so this is definitely new for me.
2. My love for chocolate has diminished since being pregnant. Now when I want sweets I like jelly beans, sweet tarts, and skittles.
3. I am exausted! I literally could sleep for 12 hours straight if I didn't have to get up for work (or have Nelly licking me trying to get me out of bed).
Stay tuned for more frequent postings (that probably means once every other week).
